AS THE October deadline for implementing new EEC braking regulations looms over British operators, Berg, with its extensive European experience has developed a wide range of air brakes which are claimed to more than match the new regulations.
A new brake chamber design, the Berg Type 24 long stroke duo, is launched this month.
Berg sales director Bob Parsons claims "to have cut the body length by 20mm which reduces the weight and the overhang load by 10 per cent. So a smaller, lighter unit gives the same performance".
"Berg has also strengthened the flange support with a onepiece clamp band which gives the new brake chamber a wider tolerance of variations in major European suppliers' diaphragms," he adds.
The new unit has an operating pressure of 8 bar (116psi) maximum and a push rod stroke of 75mm (2.05in). The single clampband design allows the customer to have it set at 45 degrees left or right of the service porting if required. Berg's braking advisory service is available to all commercial vehicle users and specialises in prompt diagnosis and solution of braking problems.
