THREE of the most important phases in Foden's history are marked by the latest additions to the road transport collection of the Science Museum's outstation at Wroughton airfield near Swindon.
They are the Pride of Leven, a 1906 compound steam traction engine; Pride of Edwin, a 1916 5 ton steam lorry; and the first Foden diesel vehicle, which had a Gardner 5L2 engine, built in 1931. In the next three years the diesel ousted the steamer, the last of which was delivered in 1934.
These great Sandbach veterans will be on public exhibitions at the museum's next open day on September 12.
