• The !Problem of vehicle brake lights being rendered all but useless by the brightness of high-intensity rear fog lamps could be a thing of the past, according to Brit Electronic Systems.
Its new Visibrake is claimed to eliminate this brake light confusion by automatically extinguishing the rear fog lamps the instant the brake lights come on. Then, after one third of a second—the all important human reaction time—the unit reestablishes the rear high-intensity lights. This momentary switching between the lights, known as virtual optical motion, enhances brake light visibility in poor weather conditions by more then 400%, says the maker and the effect commands instant action from the driver of the following vehicle. The tiny four-wire control unit, about the size of a box of matches, is simply and quickly wired into the vehicle's rear-light cluster.
