• Manheim is to pump over ,12m into its Gloucestershire site in a bid to create one of the biggest van and truck auctions in Europe. Based at Cam, near Dursley, Manheim Gloucester will see annual commercial vehicle sales rise from 15,000 today to almost 30,000 by 2005, says the company.
The redevelopment will involve adding an extra five acres to the existing io-acre site.
A new access road from the A38 will be built, and the auction buildings will be completely refurbished. A new valeting facility will be installed, and a new transporter drop-off and loading area will be constructed.
Perimeter security will be beefed up, and the carpark will be expanded and resurfaced. All the work should be completed by early next year, and Manheim Coventry's van sales will be transferred to the rejuvenated site.
"Manheim is already the UK's largest auctioneer of commercial vehicles, offering nearly 100,000 units for sale each year," says chief executive, John Bailey. "Developing Gloucester will further strengthen our service to vendors and buyers alike."
