• A joint venture delivery company working for Marks & Spencer appears to have resolved its pay dispute with drivers.
Around 160 employees of Joint Retail Logistics (JRL) voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action short of a strike, following months of drawn-out negotiations ( CM 2430 July).
The RMT union says it will now advise the drivers to accept a revised offer during a fresh ballot next month.
Mick Cash, the union's senior assistant general secretary, says: "The original offer was about 2% with a number of strings attached, which we have managed to get rid of.
"The new offer improves the basic rate of pay by between 2.5-3% and there are improvements in leave pay, sick pay and allowances."
RMT represents about a fifth of the total workforce of 850, according to the company.
Around 60 RMT members are drivers who earn a minimum of £224 for a 39-hour week plus 11 hours obligatory overtime.
JRL is a joint venture between Exel and Tibbett & Britten.
