STOBART GROUP is expanding its Tesco rail freight servicebetween Daventry and Grangemouth.
From 6 September, the firm will add a Saturday round trip to the Monday to Friday daily train service it operates between the Midlands and Scotland.
Stobart says the extra rail service will remove more trucks from the M6 motorway and save about 2.4 million litres of fuel annually.
From Grangemouth, the goods will be delivered by road to Tesco's distribution centre at Livingston.
Andrew Tinkler, Stobart Group chief executive, says: "The success of the award-winning service with Tesco only goes to strengthen the distribution options available on rail."
