is unequivocal in his condemnation of cameras: "They are a bad thing and don't have a place in road safety," he comments. "There's no doubt that speeding needs to be tackled, but not with cameras. They are nothing more than a money-raising instrument for the government and should be abolished."
Burke sees broader measures that actually help drivers as a better solution. "I believe very firmly that speed limit signs are inadequate. Many people have trouble distinguishing between a 30mph zone and a 40mph zone.
"And signs that measure a vehicle's speed and warn drivers they are exceeding the limit are far and away better than cameras, which just get people's backs up and are very unpopular."
