• Manchester transport committee is planning to introduce an "Executive Special" bus to run between the residential area of Hale Barns, Cheshire and the city centre.
A recent market research survey suggested that it could be a viable proposition and it is intended, if permission is granted by the City Council and the North Western Traffic Commissioners, to operate this luxury service with airport-type coaches, picking up businessmen as near as possible to their homes and dropping them at the nearest point to their offices.
The one-way fare would be approximately 5s. The existing single train fare is 2s 8d and there is no direct bus service at present.
