• The impending European "End of Life" Directive has led to an increasing level of interest in the use of refurbished automotive parts.
As one of the largest remanufacturers of starters and alternators, Delco Remy offers a quick-response service at Lichfield, Staffs in support of its next-day supply service.
To facilitate efficient degreasing and cleaning of smaller components like cam gears and bearing races, the
firm has installed a Vapormaster 1212 wet abrasive blasting machine which prepares parts in a single integrated operation.
The cleaner uses a tumble barrel with an automatically metered detergent solution powered by four angled cleaning nozzles. A typical cycle including hot rinse/hot air drying lasts 20 minutes.
Unlike conventional dryblast cleaning, Vapormatt's "wet" system is said to create no dust or static electricity.
