Manchester .Corporation's transport department, .under Mr. It. Stuart Pitcher (general manager), is prepared to utilize beuzole made by the city's, gas department if the latter can produce more than at present.
• For some time the National Benzol .Association has taken most of the gasworks' output of the fuel. It is frankly conceded that the bus undertaking could not afford the price said to be _paid by the association ; but Mr. Pitcher thinks the transport section and the gas department could certainly make arrangements about price if production could be greatly improved.
At present the transport department absorbs a modest percentage out of the city's total output of 500,000 gallons per annum. It is produced at the old Bradford Road gasworks and the newer plant at Partington (between Man. obester and Warrington).
Better Facilities for Crossing the Forth?
'The lack of ferry facilities between North and South Queensferry, and the high charges for transporting vehicles across, have long been sore points with authorities and commercial concerns on both sides of the Forth. A deputation from Fife County Council is to interview the Minister of Transport regarliing a reduction in rates, and is to discuss with him the proposed Forth road bridge at Queensferry.
Stoke to Run Buses?
The general purposes committee of Stoke-on-Trent Corporation has appointed a sub-committee to consider the desirability of proceeding to take action to enable the corporation to acquire the bus services in the city.
