DURSTON Plant Contractors Ltd of Bristol are expanding their heavy haulage operations with two new Tasklift low loaders manufactured by Craven Tasker (Andover) Ltd. The first trailer, an F6 66LB tri-axle model, has already gone into service and is being used primarily for transporting earthmoving equipment throughout the country. Up to 90 per cent of the transport work undertaken by Durston is for companies outside their own group. A recent contract involved using the new trailer to transport seven tanks. The second trailer will be a F6 38LB featuring a specially developed elevating neck. This new facility means that it is possible to raise the trailer bed from a normal running height of 305mm to over 635mm (12 to 25in) at the front end to overcome obstructions. It can also be lowered to within 76mm (3in) of the ground to provide for maximum overhead clearance when passing under low bridges.
