Start weight: 249Ibs (list 11Ibs) BMI: 33.8 Current weight: 229Ibs (16st Bibs) Target: 224Ibs (16st) Weighing in at 249Ib and with a blood pressure level far too high for long-term safety, the requirement for me to shed the pounds was pretty serious sort it out or your life's in danger, was the general message.
I adopted the GI Diet its nothing to do with the US Army -and I can only speak highly of this weight loss initiative. Foods are colour coded: green eat as much as you like; yellow avoid in the first phase and then after that in moderation, and red steer clear.
Three months on, I'm getting fairly close to the target weight, though in the best traditions of business it's likely I'll be revising the targets in the next few weeks! The weight has come off steadily and unlike some other diets I've tried in the past I don't feel as if I'm missing out on anything and I'm never hungry.
Furthermore, I've got more energy, my back pain has all but gone and the libido has livened itself up (although that's probably more than you need to know).
Booze was all but eliminated in the first couple of months, though I've now added the odd pint to the repertoire and so far it's not having any negative impact So what now? Buying a new suit and replacing some shirts is on the immediate action list. A holiday in Italy, land of big dinners, now looms and I await the weigh-in on my return with trepidation.
