ROBIN HANNAY is correct about cliff ratios But Peter Davies and Adam Moody (CM 7July) are talking about overall ratios' or 'movement ratios' or 'velocity ratios' or 'force ratios' or even 'mechanical advantage'.
Thus high gear is expressed as high ratio. This is not quite the same as gear ratios.
