• A £480m. road investment programme —described as a possible strategic plan for Scottish roads in the 1970s—is outlined in a White Paper. Scottish Roads in the 1970s. published last week.
The main proposals of the White Paper are: increased emphasis on the urban road programme; the importance of regional development; the need for improving a considerable mileage of roads outside towns to first-class single carriageways once the dual-carriageway programme is completed in the mid-1970s.
