for CM Next Monday, May 31, Gibb Grace takes over from Tony Wilding as technical editor of Commercial Motor. Mr Wilding, who has been with CM for more than 10 years, is on that day taking up the post of chief engineer of the Freight Transport Association, and so will maintain his close involvement with the road transport industry.
Mr Grace, who is 31, joins us from the technical monthly Automotive Design Engineering, of which he was assistant editor. A qualified engineer, he is a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and served a five-year apprenticeship with the Ford Motor Co. He later had industrial experience with Vauxhall and Chrysler, working as a design engineer.
Tony Wilding joined CM in 1 960 as assistant technical editor and was promoted in 1964. Before joining the journal he was an engineer engaged in transport operation with the London Brick Co and the GLC, after 11 years with AEC Ltd.
In the past month Trevor Longcroft has joined CM as assistant technical editor. Aged 22 he, too, is a trained engineer, who was formerly with CAV Ltd. He served his apprenticeship with CAV, has worked on Perkins and Vauxhall engine projects, and latterly served as a development engineer in the CAV applications department.
