• The new associated company of London and Continental Trailer Services Ltd, Nedgeford Ltd, with its base at Tilbury Docks, was granted a licence by the Metropolitan LA on Wednesday for five vehicles and five trailers with a further margin of four vehicles and four trailers to be acquired.
Mr J. Readman, a director of the company, explained that the function of London and Continental was Continental haulage work and work within Tilbury docks. In order to ease administrative problems and to obviate problems of rate differential between the dock work and the Continental work the new company was being formed.
The LA, Mr D. I. R. Muir, said he noted that London and Continental had attracted a number of convictions including some at East Sussex Quarter Sessions for failing to pay road taxes and for which fines and back tax totalling more than £2000 had been paid '-(CM, January 22), but he had decided to grant the licence as applied for.
