Durham numbers
AGREEMENT has been announced by Durham County Council with most bus operators in the county to display route numbers in a system established by the council. As vehicles owned by many small operators do not have blinds the council has supplied them with special boards for the purpose.
Coach ban
THE Metropolitan Police has written to coach operators telling them that setting down is now banned on roads in the vicinity of Hampton Court, and also in Lambeth Palace Road between Lambeth Bridge and St Thomas's Hospital.
Bus stations
NEW BUS stations for both local and long-distance services have been brought into use in Northampton and Stamford. The new station in Greyfriars, Northampton cost £7m.
Leyland back down
LEYLAND has offered to supply the Scottish Bus Group with Leopard coaches fitted with four-speed ZF manual gearboxes. But so far the SBG has not taken the offer up.
