Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Weighed up • On page 16 of last week's Commercial Motor, in the story headed "Query raised on accuracy", we quoted transport lawyer Jonathan Lawton as saying dynamic axle weighbridges had to be calibrated every six weeks. This should have read every six months.

Late bid • Mark Cutter's bid to operate three vehicles from Greenacre Farm, Peterson-super-Ely, Gwent was adjourned until October when the South Wales Licensing Authority heard that Cutter had only sought planning permission for the use of the site on 27 April. Cutter's licence bid is opposed by Newport Borough Council.

Cleared load • Nicholas Senior, an Amco Construction driver, has been cleared of using a vehicle when the load was not secured so danger was unlikely. Wakefield magistrates accepted there was no likelihood of danger from loose chains on the fiat bed of his lorry.

Banner discharge • Darlington-based LT Banner was given an absolute discharge after Leyburn magistrates convicted the firm of an axle overload offence. The court was told that the load of gravel had moved during the course of the journey.

Western warned • West Midland Deputy Licensing Authority Alan Cattell has warned Halesowen-based Western Wallboards (Plastics) about the maintenance of its vehicles. The company told the DLA that it had found two commercial garages unsatisfactory and it was now employing its own professional mechanic.
