A "smart" key fob, capable of receiving and transmitting radio signals from a vehicle mounted intruder alarm system, is being developed by an American company and could be commercially available by 2000. Doubling as an RKE (remote keyless entry) device, the key fob is fitted with an LCD that shows the truck's status.
