0-licence, has been closed down and its transport director has been sacked by its Dublin-based parent company, freight forwarder Transland International.
Kieran Conlan, Transland International's director, describes Transland Transport as an "aborted" and "unwise" four-month experiment to bring haulage in-house. "It didn't workâwe now realise it makes no sense us running a fleet," says Conlan. Transland International is returning to the exclusive use of established, trusted subcontractors.
Conlan says Transland Transport's transport director Freddy Bryans was previously a subcontractor who offered to manage the new operation. Conlan adds that he trusted Bryans to keep the business above board. "Now he's finished with us," he says. "We thought we were acting properly, but the lesson has now been learnt."
