THE BRITISH MODEC electric van is set to become the first electric commercial vehicle to achieve EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval.
As CM went to press, Modec was putting the van through the final test to gain homologation in the N2 category, with the Millbrook Proving Ground facility carrying out the required development work. In gaining this approval, the Modec can be sold in all EU member states without individual local approval.
An international dealer network is currently being established, which will cover Ireland, France, Holland, Spain and Denmark. Since production began in 2007 Modec has sold more than 150 vehicles in the UK, to fleets that include a number of household names, such as Speedy Tool Hire and Marks & Spencer.
