THREE Fife men operated a public bus service without the necessary licences, it was stated at Kirkcaldy district court on November 19. They were William Russell (49), Robert Stoddart (50), and William McClure Colman White (45)—all of Methil.
Mr Stoddart and Mr White, the two drivers, both admitted driving a psv near Sandusky, Glenrothes, without the valid licences on August 11. Mr Russell admitted employing them. He also admitted causing and permitting the vehicles to be used as express carriages, while he was not the holder of a road service licence authorising such use.
The fiscal said that Mr Russell had been advised that he had been conducting his business illegally earlier in the year and he had said he intended taking out a proper licence. But in August two of his vehicles were stopped and not only did he not have a public service licence, the drivers were not licensed to drive that sort of vehicle.
Judge A. Potter fined Russell a total of £90 and Stoddart and White were each fined E15.
