• Auxiliary power systems specialist Antares has extended its battery equaliser range to include a 30A version.
Intermittent electrical loads such as tail-lifts, 12V engine starters, telephones, heaters, or continuous lighting can now be run directly from the 12V centre tap on 24V vehicles, without affecting battery life. The unit is connected to the batteries and operates automatically when needed. It is not located in the 12V line and, in this way, any surges or short-term peak currents are supported by the battery itself— eliminating stress on the electronics which often lead to reliability problems. The unit can be installed anywhere on the chassis (IP66 rated) and the maker says it will operate up to 85°C. It will also withstand road use vibration, water, dirt and salt.
