to pay fines and costs totalling £630 when they failed to appear before the Ystradgynlais Magistrates to answer charges of using a vehicle without a tachograph. Beth Thomas, prosecuting, told the court that a vehicle driven by Sean Asprey, of Whitwood.
Castle ford. was stopped by police while carrying a load of traffic cones and other equipment through the Swansea Valley. He was reported for not using a tachograph.
The vehicle belonged to Gary Asprey of Altofts, Wakefield. When West Yorkshire police were sent to interview him he insisted that the lorry was exempt from the tachograph regulations The two men had since written to the court, maintaining that the vehicle was exempt. However. Thomas said the defendants had to prove they were exempt from the regs.
The magistrates found the case. Sean Asprey was fined E220 and Gary Asprey £330. each with £40 costs.
