Exeter nurses pass
HGV test
SEVERAL EXt I ER nurses have trained as truck drivers to deliver a mobile service to glaucoma patients in rural areas using a £300,000 lveco Eurocargo.
Jane Kingett is one of three nurses to have passed the HGV test. Because space is so short in eye hospitals, a clinic has been packed up into the truck, including treatments and computers.
Kingett says: "Passing the HGV licence was more nervewracking than any nursing test I've done. It was terrifying, but we are all excited about it."
The lorry will be on the roadthree days a week in six towns, serving some 1,500 patients.
