Exporter EVS expands UK activities
USED TRUCK EXPORTER European Vehicle Sales (EVS) is expanding its activities in the UK, says managing director Richard Mills.
The company has moved into another site on the Sandtoft Industrial Estate, not far from Doncaster, with enough space to hold significant quantities of recycled parts, offer a truck rental service, and stock second-hand vehicles. It is also expanding its workshop activities.
The 4.5-acre site will carry about 300 trucks, says Mills, up from the 100 or so held recently. EVS is probably best-known for selling Mercedes-Benz, but in future it will be pursuing an all-makes policy. "We'll do a bit of everything," he says.
Mills is confident that EVS will be able to obtain the stock it needs. "Ifs available if you're willing to pay for it and remember that only a small percentage of what we offer is really late stuff, where the shortage is," he says.
Most of what we hold dates back to 2006 or earlier," he continues. "The used trucks we'll be renting out will be younger."
The decision to concentrate on the UK is a reaction to the buoyancy of the domestic used-truck market. "Prices are rising, which they needed too," says Mills.
However, the business MI continue to explore export opportunities and not just with complete trucks. EVS plans to sell recycled parts overseas as well as closer to home.
In a separate move, the group has recruited Eric Grey. a well-known figure on the used scene, as sales managing director.
Anthony Wright has left the company to pursue other interests.
