Fresh Service buys RW Simpson's South-East arm
FRESH SERVICE has acquired the SouthEast operations of Sheffield haulier RW Simpson Transport for an undisclosed sum.
The Darenth, Kent-based chilled distributor has taken on RW Simpson's Paddock Wood and Sheerness depots.
The deal affects 30 RW Simpson employees, all of whom moved to Fresh Service on 23 October.
Brian Porter, MD at Fresh Service, says RW Simpson operated in the same area, so it made sense to take over its operation.
"There will be significant advantages. With larger volumes we can make fewer deliveries [by consolidating both firms' deliveries] or offer earlier delivery times," he says.
RW Simpson's Peterborough and Sheffield depots and transport operations are not part of the deal and continue unaffected.
