• Further evidence that rental trucks will be in short supply at Christmas comes this week from one of Britain's biggest trailer rental firms. Central Trailer Rentco (CTR) says that 94% of its 10,000-strong trailer fleet is now rented or reserved for the next three months.
CTR national sales manager Ian McKenzie says: "Last year we actually saw a reduction in the number of available units in the trailer rental parc. This year customers are clearly leaving nothing to chance and are renting earlier to make sure they fulfil their Christmas obligations. Coming as it does hard on the heels of one of our busiest ever summer periods, this preChristmas rush clearly reflects the increasingly essential role that trailer rental plays in the UK logistics industry."
