chairman's I ad hoc committee of the Road Haulage Association met the Minister of Transport on Monday to discuss denationalization. The committee's membership is now reduced to five— Mr. James Barrie, national chairman; Mr. R. G. Crowther, Mr. C. W. H. Sparrow and Mr. J. H. Male, vicechairmen, and Mr. Frank F. Fowler. All members attended.
Before interviewing the Minister, the committee had two meetings—one last Friday and the other on Monday.
APPLICATIONS CUT DOWN
TH E Yorkshire Deputy Licensing
I Authority has an his decision on application for additional A-licensed tonnage by three associated Leeds hauliers. Strong opposition was lodged by British Railways, British Road Services and seven private operators.
The hearing was reported in The Commercial Motor on December 31, 1954.
Arthur Sutcliffe (Haulage), Ltd., who asked for seven extra vehicles, have been granted two; Richard Townend, Ltd., gain two trailers, after seeking two vehicles and two trailers; but the application of J. N. Paylor and Sons, Ltd., for four additional trailers has been refused.
