FIDNL to shut two depots
HOME DELIVERY Network (I-IDNL) expects to close depots in Northamptonshire and Clwyd by the summer, affecting 126 employees.
The parcel carrier has entered a threemonth consultation period with 58 depot staff at Corby and 68 employees at Wrexham over proposals to close the sites. A HDNL spokeswoman says: "This decision has been taken in the long-term interest of the business and its employees amid a competitive marketplace. We appreciate this is a difficult time for staff and we are doing everything we can to minimise redundancies and mitigate the impact on those affected," HIDNL acquired DHL's domestic arm in January. However, the two affected depots are existing I-IDNL sites and the business says the closures are "not related to the integration of the companies".
Meanwhile, CM can confirm HDNL's new chief executive Jonathan Smith has moved over from DHL Domestic Express, where he was MD.
He replaces Brian Gaunt.
