Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A threat to blockade supermarket regional distribution centres by militant farmers has been slammed by the Freight Transport Association.

The Farmers For Action group has said it will target supermarket ROCs in a bid to force the retail giants to offer food producers a fairer price for their goods. As CM went to press it was understood that the FR protest would begin on Tuesday night (27 August).

An ETA spokesman says: "We would be appalled by any attempts for illegal blockading of RDCs.

"The farmers' relationship with the supermarkets is a matter for them to sort out between themselves. but they must not inhibit the free movement of goods in and out of RDCs."

However, Paul Reynolds, Wiltshirebased farmer and treasurer of the FR, is calling on the haulage industry to join the farmers in pressing supermarkets for better rates. He says: If we go out of business then I can see a lot of hauliers going bust on the back of that.

"Food will also end up being brought in from abroad and I can't see them using UK hauliers to do that work."

He adds: "The FFA would welcome the haulage industry joining us because between us we could bring the country to a halt. This protest Isn't about greed—we just want to make a living."

A spokesman for Tosco says that it is monitoring the situation closely.
