• Curtainsider specialist Lawrence David has built a dual-height straightframe mega-trailer for Wakefieldbased textile manufacturer WE Rawson.
It will carry textiles which can be compressed and has a specially designed, variable height suspension system.
The combination of a very low (80mm) cant rail and lowered fifth wheel height of 1,010mm enables the semi-trailer to achieve a capacity of 108m3 within an overall maximum specified height of 4.35m for a straightframe trailer.
The variable suspension allows Rawson's trailer to work with a range of tractive units with up to 250mm variation on fifth-wheel heights. The trailer is fitted with lifting front and rear axles and wide-single, low-profile (445/45 R 19.5) tyres.
The curtains incorporate Lawrence David's Armoursheet Secure anti-theft mesh; additional features include flush-fitting rear doors with recessed double locking gear giving greater cube and providing an uninterrupted livery area at the rear.
