CONTAINER hauliers can take heart from HMRC figures which suggest that the lower sterling exchange rate is finally helping companies to boost exports.
The number of companies exporting from the UK in 03 2008 rose by 2.5% on the same period last year. This means that 51,091 UK firms are currently exporting across the globe. The East of England has seen the largest rise of any region over this period—an increase of 5.7%, with 5,664 companies now exporting from the region.
East of England International, an investment advice service for international firms, is running a campaign to boost exports in conjunction with UK Trade and Investment.
