TRANSLINC, WHICH provides contract hire and maintenance to local authorities, is now advertising its de-fleeted stock directly to end users.
Lee Coulson, marketing manager, says: "We have launched the used vehicle section on translinc.co.uk, which gives customers an opportunity to make a short-term requirement or acquire an older vehicle to support its frontline fleet, "We've notified all the traders we have relationships with and done a lot of advertising. We won't be handling all of the returning stock, due to the geographical spread of the vehicles," he says.
He also pointed to a busy time ahead with local authority elections, the credit crunch and new unitary authorities born out of co-existing authorities pushing ahead on efficiency drives. This will reduce fleet sizes where divisions and fleets are doubling up.
Mark Werrell, national sales manager, explains: "The fleet has been growing over the past few years, and it's only now we are starting to see more drop off the back end.
"Others were sold privately and some through traders, now we're seeing more come off the back end," he says. • • Turn over for more on TransLine...
