Medical clauses
• Northern Distribution Services has been ordered by a Hull Industrial Tribunal to pay £275 in wages withheld from driver Erick Beal because he concealed the fact that his driving licence had medical restrictions. Beal was sacked two weeks into his job following an accident.
Home start
IIII Lorry driver Barry Dearden has won his claim for unfair dismissal after being sacked by J M Haulage for parking his vehicle at home. A Manchester Industrial Tribunal ordered the firm to pay him £562.50 compensation.
Early cut-off
• Convictions and problems over maintenance have led to the authorisation on Graham Wilson, of Naim's licence being cut from five vehicles and eight trailers, to three vehicles and five trailers. Scottish TC Michael Betts directed that the licence end next June.
