AI The British International Freight Association (Birk has set up 12 policy groups and a council of members as part of a restructuring process designed to modernise its service.
The council of members will be a forum which will make the association more democratic, says director-general Colin Beaumont. The policy groups will provide a more efficient way of developing strategies in particular areas, he adds.
The restructuring coincides with the arrival of a new national chairman, Tommy Rodgers of TB Shipping in Belfast.
The 12 policy areas are: air forwarding; general sales agents; European; deep sea; political; legal; insurance; trading and development; e-commerce: international relations; dangerous goods; and Customs.
