CEVA LOGISTICS' Showfreight division has just finished the most public part of one of its biggest operations of the year at the Farnborough International Airshow.
The Midlands-based business has looked after all the handling operations at the biennial event since 1994. This year's show ran from 19-25 July, and Ceva employed some 170 staff and used a fleet of 55 forklift trucks and 130 artics to transport products for the massive trade exhibition.
"It's a massive logistical challenge," says Mark Bristol, the firm's sales manager. "It takes a year to organise. the site is always ch ing and it's a working airport I Ceva Showfreight staff an site from mid-May until the er August and the very nature o industry means that there's a lot of time-sensitive movern explains Bristol.
During the period, Ceva hai some 300 tonnes of airfreight moves around 1,500 piece seafreight for unloading.
Products shown on the St can vary from relatively s aircraft tyres to jet engine landing gear from the wc largest passenger aircraft.
