• Britain's strengthening pound is threatening export-related haulage in the North-West, according to economic consultant Business Strategies
It says manufacturers in the region are becoming more pessimistic as sterling continues to storm upwards in the foreign exchange markets. Exporters in Northern Ireland, East Anglia and the North told Business Strategies that they are being priced out of export markets—only manufacturers in the East Midlands have managed to hold their prices. Most ot the companies told Business Strategies that their order books are full for the next four months, suggesting that hauliers could start to feel the impact by the end of summer.
