Cordwallis Croup was formed out of the original HW Thomas garage repair business in Cordwallis Street, Maidenhead. Still family owned, it currently employs 13o staff and has a turnover of f39m. With its headquarters and a Volkswagen CV dealership still in Maidenhead, the group also runs two busy MAN-VW truck centres: in Eynsham. Oxfordshire and near Heathrow's Terminal 4, on the A3o, at Bedfont.
Cordwallis Heathrow opened up three years
ago with only a handful of truck mechanics but today the MAN side of the business operates with 22 technicians plus four first and third-year apprentices.
The subject vehicle—an MANt8.224F 4x2 with bucket loading Atlas crane—belongs to MAN's Truck Rentals division but with a repaint and full service, the low-mileage X-reg tipper is due to be sold through Cordwallis's busy, used truck sales branch. However, it won't leave until a full inspection and detailed repairs have been carried out, and that's where we teamed up with former Cordwallis apprentice Sean Bourke.
