COUNCILLOR W. G. PLACRETT has been re-elected chairman and Councillor F. Mitchell vice-chairman of Nottingham Transport Committee.
COUNCILLOR JOSEPH TAYLOR, Manager of the haulage firm of Messrs. A. B. Taylor and Son, of Charlestown, Glossop, Derbyshire, has been elected Mayor of Glossop.
Mi. SAMUEL E. OGDEN, who has retired as chief clerk and chief assistant to Accrington Motor Transport (Bus) department has served in passenger transport for 45 years. COUNCILLOR 0. A. J. LING and Couxcul,cat W. H. PHILLIPS have been appointed chairman and vice-chairman respectively of the omnibus committee of Derby Town Council.

MR. MICHAEL DEWAR, chairman of British Timken, Ltd., has been nominated a sheriff for Hertfordshire. He is at present in the United States on a mission for the British Government.
MR. J. W. CALVERT, of Peterborough, has been elected chairman of the Eastern Road Haulage Area Wages
Board, whilst MR. A. MINDHAM has been elected on the workers' side, in place of Mr. Worsnopp.
ALDERMAN PHILIP M. ROBINSON, J.P., has been reappointed chairman of Chesterfield Corporation Transport Committee, making the 21st year he has held that office. Alderman H. Cropper, J.P., has been reappointed vice-chairman of the same committee.
Chesterfield is in the happy position that during the past 37 years it has had only two chairmen, the present chairman succeeding the late Sir Ernest Shentall, who held the position on the transport committee for 16 successive years.
