• A new truck centre with extensive service and testing facilities was opened on Tuesday by County Garage Co. Ltd., of Carlisle. It is situated north of the town on A7 on a four-acre site at Kingstown Industrial Estate near the MoT testing station. It has 16 repair bays to give operators flowline service and pre-MoT testing for their vehicles.
County are main Ford dealers for Cumberland, Westmorland and a part of south west Scotland and the opening ceremony was performed by Mr. S. E. G. Toy, director, truck sales, Ford Motor Co. Ltd.
The centre, under the guidance of its managing director, Mr. H. Gilligan, will be open 24 hours a day, six nights a week and has ample parking and storage space for new and used trucks.
