• Bus passengers in Oxford last week were surprised when green and red and cream buses stopped to pick them up.
Nine buses from two outside companies have been lent to the City of Oxford Motor Services, Ltd., because of shortage of engineers at Oxford.
Oxford buses are being repaired by the Aldershot and District and East Kent companies. The five Aldershot and four East Kent buses are likely to be in Oxford for about five weeks.
Mr. A. J. Price, traffic manager of the City of Oxford Motor Services, said: "It is difficult to get good fitters in Oxford and we are having our vehicles repaired by these other companies. Among the things that have to be done is making sure the heaters are in good repair for the winter."
