Designed for testing the brakes of heavy commercial vehicles, a slow-speed roller brake tester developed by Laycock Engineering Ltd. can accommodate axle loads up to 16 tons. It is equiaped with a third wheel-slip roller that is connected to a warning light and comprises two identical units that can be located in the floor, with or without spacers, to accommodate extra large track widths when necessary or to provide pit facilities between the units.
Details include a roll diameter of 0.9in., a track range of lft to 9ft 6in., brake force ranges of 0 /1,000Ib and 0 /10,000lb, a roll speed of 5 rpm and a motor speed of 1,460 rpm. Each of the two electric motors develops 5 I, hp. The control console is mounted at the end of one of the roller units.
