• Glasgow Corporation is to give a subsidy of £800,000 in the coming year against £350,000 in the current year—described by the city treasurer as "a proper contribution by the ratepayers to the Corporation's social policies".
The larger subsidy will avoid a general fares increase, and obviate the normal fare-paying passenger from subsidizing the concession fares unduly. Alternatives would be to increase the concessionary fare or eliminate it entirely.
