• Hauliers are threatening to fight hack against the Government's plan to fine them if it finds illegal immigrants in their trucks, by bringing major ports to a standstill.
The Road Haulage Association is planning to advise hauliers to demand their trucks be searched at Dover and other major ports to ensure there are no illegal immigrants on board.
As CM went to press, dire tor-general Steven Norris planning to meet immigratic minister Mike O'Brien to deba the issue. David Green, directo general of the Freight Transpo Association, will be present.
The threats of disruptio were to play a major part in ti meeting.
