LANCASHIRE-BASED Matthew Kibble Transport has snapped up Blackburn hauler Prestons Fuel and Haulage, doubling its size in the process.
The acquisition gives Matthew Kibble an extra 1,860m2 of warehousing and distribution facilities, 17 vehicles and two sites, at Nelson and Earby in Lancashire, as well as membership of the Geodis-owned Fortec Pallet Network Distribution.
Director Matthew Kibble says: "This purchase has moved me from a general haulier to being able to offer groupage and warehousing and overnight pallet services. We also have a greater range of vehicles now — before the acquisition we didn't have smaller vehicles and couldn't handle single pallets."
Launched in 1948 as a family business, Blackburn-based Prestons Fuel and Haulage ran 11 vehicles and employed 15 staff, all of whom have now transferred to Matthew Kibble.
