THE CRIME Reduction Unit at the University of Central Lancashire has launched an initiative to raise awareness of the scale of freight crime.
It is running a series of regional workshops throughout October, which aim to shape more effective legislation in the reporting and tackling of truck crime.
The workshops are free to attend and will bring together hauliers, drivers, local authorities, the police and key industry associations.
Topics include: • identifying and sharing good practice in crime-prevention techniques; • bringing together the private and public sectors to enable effective reporting and recording of freight crime; • a national conference on freight crime.
