Nina Day of the HSL offers the following advice:
• carry out risk assessment; • choose the right trailers; • check straps – they are vulnerable to damage and become brittle with age; • remember that shrink wrap is not load restraint; • consider whether the driver should inspect the loading; • ensure the driver has someone to ring if the load moves and, if possible, an alternative site to go to.
