UK PRODUCTION of commercial vehicles rose hy nearly 9% in the second quarter of 2007, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMM'F).
Christopher Macgowan,SMMT chief executive, says: "Production in the second quarter was up 8.6% versus 3.6% in quarter one. Light commercial vehicles from Ford, Vauxhall, LDV and IBC are driving growth in the sector, as all saw production rise in June."
June's figures were the best of the year so far, with a 12% rise in production to nearly 20,000 vehicles. Of these, 59.7% were for export.
A spokeswoman for the SMMT says some of the factors influencing the growth include the revival of LDV, increased production at Ford Southampton and the new Astravan.
