• Construction has started on a £15m Lure freight terminal in Wales that is expected to take 40,000 lorries off the road each year.
The Westloog terminal, between Cardiff and Newport, is due to be completed in October next year. The move will "enable companies to move their goods off roads and on to rail to reach their markets in the fastest, cheapest and cleanest way possible," says the Welsh Development Agency.
Steel and other heavy Industry lorry movements are expected to make the switch.
The project is seen as being as important to the Welsh economy as the second Severn crossing.
Terminal operator Freightliner is poised to transfer its business from its Pengam base in Cardiff to Westloog.
